At first glance they look very similar: both made by the same developer, both intended for smart TVs, both have a blue icon in the app store. And yet we receive the same question every week: “I have been using Smart IPTV for years, should I switch?”

Short answer: not if it just works for you. Does it fail, do you lose your playlist with every TV update, or do you have to take out a new subscription? Then SmartOne is the logical successor. Below is the honest story, without technical nonsense.

The difference in one sentence

Bee Smart IPTV (SIPTV) you paste an M3U link from your provider into a website and your TV loads that list. Bee SmartOne just send your MAC address to your provider and they will take care of the rest.

And that one difference makes a world of difference in practice.

Why Smart IPTV still exists

To be fair, SIPTV did fine for years. You received a link from your provider, you went to the app’s website, pasted the link to your MAC address, and after a reload your list was there. Still works. Only: your playlist is on your TV. If you get a TV update, the party often starts again. And if you paste a letter wrong, you’ll be stuck fiddling with a remote control for another twenty minutes.

The app itself costs €5.50 per TV (after a 7-day trial period). That in itself is not a problem, but it adds up if you have multiple TVs.

What SmartOne does differently

SmartOne is the successor to SIPTV — same family, new home. The main differences:

Smart IPTV (SIPTV) SmartOne
Load playlist Paste M3U link on website App shows MAC address, provider does the rest
Playlist with TV update Reload often Stays (cloud)
App fees €5.50 per TV €12.50, free with us
EPG / program guide Basic Neatly arranged
Multiple playlists Limited Just supported

The gist: at Smart IPTV you are the system administrator. Not with SmartOne — you read a code and the provider makes sure it works. This is a relief for those who don’t feel like messing around.

When is it better to stay with SIPTV?

  • Your playlist has been there for months without any problems.
  • Your TV updates don’t change anything for you.
  • You don’t hate doing something manual every now and then.

Then the following applies: don’t touch what works. Really and truly.

When you do have to switch

  • Your playlist is gone every TV update and you’re sick of all the copying and pasting.
  • You need to take out a new IPTV subscription and just want it to work right away.
  • You want to use the same subscription on a second or third TV without hassle.
  • You have a newer Samsung or LG and notice that SIPTV runs slowly and outdated.

Transferring is not a three-hour operation: Install SmartOne, Read MAC address, forward, done. You watch faster than if you had deleted the old app from your TV.

One thing both apps can’t solve

What I see most often in practice: someone blames glitches on the app, but the TV is on WiFi three rooms away. The app works fine — the signal doesn’t. Doing a speed test on the TV itself (or pulling a cable) will solve more than any app change. There is more about that our guide against buffering.

The honest advice

  • Are you still watching without any problems? Stick with SIPTV. Great, done.
  • Are you starting a new subscription or do you want to get rid of the mess for good? Choose SmartOne. It is the app that we set up for everyone by default, because it simply causes the least hassle.
  • Are you in doubt? Test for free first. Then you will know within a day whether you like it.
