IPTV vs Ziggo and KPN: the fair calculation of 2026

It continues to amaze me that this comparison is so rarely made honestly: “Ziggo costs € 40 per month and IPTV €10, so you know!” you hear at parties, after which the conversation dies because no one bothers to look beyond the price.
So: here is the calculation as it should be. And let’s be honest: there are also things about cable TV that are nice. I just name that one too.
What you pay at Ziggo or KPN
Ziggo’s entry-level model “TV Start” starts around €14 per month, but then there is no sports and you miss a large part of the channels. The package that really gives you everything you are used to – all channels, sports included – quickly costs €40 or more. Add your internet and the average household bill is between €50 and €70 per month.
Just for context in this story: we are comparing the TV parts. You also need internet with IPTV, but you most likely already had that.
What you pay at Pro-IPTV
- €10 per month for everything: Dutch channels, sports, films and series. No contract; can be canceled monthly.
- If you choose 12 months, it will cost €75 total — that’s €6.25 per month.
- Only films and series? Then there is the streaming package for €25.
The content does not differ per term, only the price per month. And for those who want to calculate: The price story is complete here.
The comparison at a glance
| Ziggo / KPN | Pro IPTV | |
|---|---|---|
| Price per month | €40 or more | From €10 |
| Contract | Fixed, often 12 months | None, can be canceled monthly |
| Dutch channels | Yes (basic) | Yes, all |
| Sports (ESPN, Ziggo Sport, Viaplay) | Extra package | Included |
| F1 and Premier League | Partly extra | Included |
| Movies and series | Separately (Netflix, Disney+, HBO) | Included |
| Foreign channels | Hardly | 10,000+ worldwide |
| Watch on phone or tablet | Limited, often extra screen costs | Simply via the app |
| Free testing | No | Yes, 24 hours on working days |
The honest side: what you do miss with IPTV
Now the part that no one likes to talk about, but which is fair:
- The channel quality of the Dutch public broadcaster Ziggo is by far the most stable. NPO 1, RTL 4 and SBS 6 also work razor sharp in practice – otherwise we would have no customers – but anyone who is extremely critical of the very last bit rate will notice a difference.
- The Internet is not an afterthought. With IPTV, your image is only as good as your connection. If your router is three rooms away, it will malfunction. A cable to your TV solves that. That’s not a sales pitch, that’s technology.
- “10,000 channels” is a number, not a promise. You end up watching a handful of Dutch channels, sports and films. The rest is a bonus, not the reason to switch.
Anyone who takes those three points for granted is mainly left with the price difference. And that is significant.
When is it better to stay seated?
- You are satisfied with your current package and you prefer not to pay in addition to your existing subscription.
- You actually only watch NPO 1, RTL 4 and never any other channel.
- Your internet is slower than 10 Mbps or extremely unstable.
Then switching is a bad plan. Serious. People who leave us are almost always people with a bad connection, not with a bad subscription.
When is IPTV the logical choice?
- You’ve been paying €50+ per month for years and wonder why.
- You want to watch sports without three separate sports packages.
- You want to watch on multiple screens without extra costs.
- You’re happy to set something up (or let us do it).
Anyone who recognizes this will save hundreds of euros annually. It story about my brother-in-law and his €5 cable has become a classic among our customers, and it always comes down to the same thing: once you’re gone, you never return.
In short
The calculation of 2026: Ziggo and KPN deliver excellent TV for a good price, IPTV delivers the same TV for a fraction of that — as long as your connection can handle it. Fortunately, you can just try it out: a free 24-hour test on working days says more than any comparison.
