Installing IPTV Smarters on LG TV: webOS step-by-step plan (2026)
A IPTV Smarters installation on an LG TV works differently than on Android TV. LG uses webOS and only allows apps that are available for your model and region in the LG Content Store. That’s why any Android APK won’t work here.
Below is the practical step-by-step plan. No complicated detour: first search the store, then log in with your provider’s details.
First check your LG TV
Connect the TV to the Internet and check if the date and time are set automatically. Then open the LG Content Store. If Smarters is not in the search results, the app is probably not available for your webOS version or region. That’s a compatibility issue, not a bug in your IPTV account.
Install IPTV Smarters via the LG Content Store
- Press the Homebutton on the LG remote control.
- Open the LG Content Store or the part Apps.
- Look up IPTV Smarters or Smarters.
- Open the app page and check that you have the correct TV version.
- Click Install.
- Open the app and choose Xtream Codes API or M3U URL.
The name and logo of apps may change. Therefore, look at the reviews and the developer and do not blindly download the first app with “IPTV” in the name.
Set up with Xtream Codes
With Xtream Codes you usually enter a name, username, password and server URL. The name is just for your own overview; the other three fields must exactly match your provider’s details.
- Choose Login with Xtream Codes API.
- Give the playlist a name, for example “LG living room”.
- Enter username, password and server URL.
- Check that there are no spaces before or after the data.
- Click AddUser.
After a successful login, Live TV, Movies, Series and the EPG usually appear. It may take a few minutes for the program guide to fully load.
Add M3U on LG
Does your provider not have Xtream Codes but does have an M3U link? Then choose the option to load a playlist via URL. Paste the entire link, including the beginning of the URL. A broken link often results in an empty playlist without a clear error message.
Do you want to know which method is easiest? On the complete Smarters manual Xtream Codes is explained next to M3U, including the differences between both methods.
Smarters is missing from the LG Content Store
Don’t just change the region setting of your TV or install apps from unknown websites. Check for updates for webOS first and search again. If the app is missing, you can use another webOS player. SmartOne on LG is a logical option if your provider supports this method.
An external Android TV box or Fire TV Stick is also an option. You can use an Android or Fire TV version of the player on it, regardless of LG’s app selection.
Troubleshooting
The login does not work
Check server URL, username and password letter by letter. If in doubt, ask your provider for new information. Don’t try to copy data from another app if it has a different server URL.
The EPG is empty
Reload the program guide in the app. M3U sometimes requires a separate EPG URL to be added. With Xtream Codes, the EPG is usually included automatically.
The stream is buffering
Test whether other streaming services on the LG TV also falter. Where possible, use a network cable or move the router closer to the TV. More causes can be found in our guide to buffering and stuttering.
The app crashes
Close the app completely, restart the TV and check for updates. If the problem persists, another player for your webOS version is often the fastest solution.
Smarters or SmartOne on LG?
Use Smarters if you have diabetes Xtream Codes or M3U works and you want one recognizable app on multiple devices. SmartOne is often easier on LG if you work with a MAC address. Both are players; the channels come from your IPTV service.
